In 2012, the COCO team added the COCO Awards to the festival’s programme of activities with its vision to shine a light on the achievements of dance practitioners as well as supporters who have contributed to the development of dance in Trinidad and Tobago. Annually, awards are presented in three categories – Young Mavericks, Trailblazers and Vanguards. The coveted COCO Choreographer’s Award is bestowed to the COCO participant who demonstrates innovative and/or consistent choreographic practice both within and outside of the COCO Dance Festival.
